LB worked with my sixth grade son all of last year, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. Her years of teaching middle school are evident from the first day, as she carefully gets to know your child and build a strong rapport. In my mind, she was building a bridge into his world. And week after week, they would begin with how his week was going, where he was succeeding and where he was struggling. My son has dysgraphia so it affects every subject, even math. Together, they made strategies. LB taught him how to advocate for himself with his teachers, and she helped him make a plan for the week and how to tackle long term projects and break them down into bite size pieces. Ever so patient, ever so positive, she taught him to believe in himself, and to have a growth mindset.
LB is a bridge builder with the parents, as well. She helps the parents learn how to help their child. Not do it for them, but how to teach them to build good study habits.

Finally, having taught for 30 years, LB understands the 504 and IEP system. She knows what questions to ask, and what questions parents are allowed to ask. She even sat in on our annual meeting as a consultant, and was extremely helpful. I recommend LB to you fully and without hesitation.

Our 7th grade son needed guidance to become more proficient academically. We had used tutors in the past with some short-term success; however, the tutoring did not get to the heart of the matter. LB's approach is completely different. She has the rare talent of taking a subject that's important to him outside school and using it metaphorically to help him understand what he needs to do to succeed scholastically. She was able to relate to our son and get him to trust her before they even opened a book! She also provides me and my husband with useful insights to help us promote and support the progress he is making with her guidance.
Together LB and my son have developed and instituted strategies into his daily routine that help him stay focused, remember assignments, and manage his time better. This empowerment gave him the confidence to self-advocate. He now will seek out extra help from his teachers without our prompting and is becoming able to complete his assignments more efficiently and thoroughly.
We have noticed a huge improvement in our son's outlook toward school and himself in his time working with LB.
